Patience in Waiting on God

♰ The Command

• “Wait for the Lord; Be Strong, and let your Heart take Courage; Wait for the Lord” (Psalm 27:14)

♰ Blessings Promised

• Blessed are those who wait patiently for God to reveal his perfect plans and purposes (Isaiah 30:18, Psalm 40:4)
• Those who wait patiently for the Lord will Inherit all the Promises of God (Hebrews 6:12)
• God generously gives many Blessings to those who wait patiently for him, including Steadfast Love, Mercy, Faithfulness, Forgiveness of Sin, Plentiful Redemption, Eternal Inheritance, Deliverance and Help (Psalm 40:11-13, Psalm 130:7-8, Lamentations 3:19-26)
• God acts for those who wait patiently for him (Isaiah 64:4). God waits to be gracious to us, and He exalts himself to show us mercy (Isaiah 30:18)
• God promises never to put to Shame those who wait patiently for him (Isaiah 49:23). And even more, God actively removes our Shame and gives us Honor! (Psalm 25:1-3)
• God promises that he will never leave us nor forsake us (Psalm 27:9)
• God will set our feet on a Rock and put a New Song in our mouths (Psalm 40:2-3)
• Those who wait patiently for God shall not be greatly shaken (Psalm 62:2)
• God is a Refuge where we find safety, security and protection (Psalm 62:8)
• God Remembers all of our Afflictions and Sufferings (Isaiah 40:27-28). The Sufferings of this Present Time are not worth comparing with the Glory to be Revealed to us (Romans 8:18)
• Impatience is not a mere personality trait; it is a sin rooted in Unbelief that affects our eternal life (Luke 21:19, Rom 2:6-7, Heb 6:11-12)
• God gives us Zeal and Earnest Desire in pursuing Hope to the End (Hebrews 6:11-12)
• God renews our Strength and gives us ongoing Strength to wait all the more (Isaiah 40:29-31). God gives us inner Strength to do all of this (Colossians 1:11).
• Patience is an explicitly named Gift of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22)
• Ultimately, God gives us Salvation and Eternal Life (Isaiah 25:9, Luke 21:19, Romans 2:7)
• Jesus will Return to save those who are eagerly waiting for him (Hebrews 9:28)
• We shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living (Psalm 27:13)

♰ Therefore, I commit to the following …..

• I Accept the Truth and Reality that God is the Sovereign Creator of All Things, and therefore, he has the absolute right and prerogative to do and accomplish all that pleases him, including establishing, removing and replacing kings, presidents and governments, even those who govern the World!
• I Believe God’s Promise that he works all things together for his glory and for my ultimate good, even my suffering and the frustration of my imperfect plans, purposes and timing
• I Obey and Submit to his Kingly Rule, and
• I Hope in him and in his Word, and long for the Fulfillment of his Promises
• I Bank all of my Life on God’s Promise to Fulfill all his Promises. Why? – because he who Promised is Faithful!
• I Exercise the Gift of Self-Control (Gal 5:22), and I Stop trying to Control everything and everyone around me, and let God be in charge, and let Him rule the world according to His Will, not mine!
• I Wait patiently for him to reveal his perfect plans and purposes in his perfect timing
• And yet I boldly set forth my petitions before him and pray, “Do not delay, O my God!” (Psalm 40:17)
• I pray for the Grace – to Stand in his Place – and Go at his Pace – and avoid Shameful Disgrace!
